CUTTACK: The campus of Ravenshaw University came alive with scintillating performance of Gotipua dance by a troupe from Konark Natya Mandap. The artistes dedicated their performance to Guru Gangadhar Pradhan.The graceful performance of acrobatic feats by boys with remarkable ease received a huge applause from the audience on the fourth day celebration of the national convention of SPIC MACAY. The day began with a talk by Gadadhar Mohapatra about Gita Govinda.Following this, Charandas Chor, the most celebrated play of playwright, theatre director, poet and actor Habib Tanvir, was staged. The play was an adaptation of a classical Rajasthani folk tale by Vijaydan Detha. Based on the folk tale about a thief who swears to speak only the truth, the play was staged by Naya Theatre founded by Tanvir.Later in the evening, maestros Rajan and Sajan Mishra, who are among the senior most exponents of the Gwalior and Kirana Gharana, enthralled audience for over two hours. Besides, Ustad Bahauddin Dagar offered a novel recital with aesthetically appealing Rudra Veena.
