Goa: If Rajnikanth is revered down south for his unique style, Amitabh Bachchan continues to be lauded for his acting prowess, the ability to experiment with roles and giving young actors a run for their money. And when both veteran actors come down to Goa to attend the opening ceremony of IIFI 2014, it has to be an iconic moment for movie lovers.
Agreed this isn't the first time that Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan have been seen together. Just a few weeks back, the megastar watched a match together. And a few years ago, the megastars of Indian cinema had shared the stage for the music launch of 'Robot'.
But what makes their appearance at IIFI 2014 special is that Amitabh Bachchan whom screen legend Rajinikanth had once referred to as his 'role model' and 'inspiration' will be honouring him with a lifetime achievement award. Amitabh and Rajinikanth, who have also shared screen space in 'Hum', Andha Kanoon, also share a great personal rapport.
When Rajinikanth received the award at IIFI 2014, he said, "I thought I was here to receive the award, not give a speech. Have no words to say, especially after Amitabh Bachchan's wonderful speech."
