May 3 is an important day for Indian cinema. It is the day when the country got a new religion to follow, it is the day when Indians got introduced to the magic of films. Hundred years back, Dadasaheb Phalke had released his first feature film 'Raja Harishchandra' on this fateful day and paved the way for an industry which now is one the biggest film industries in the world. Incidentally, 100 years later, May 3 falls on Friday. To commemorate the event, four of Bollywood's most influential directors- Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap have come together to make 'Bombay Talkies'. Four short stories in one film, celebrating Bombay and its role in cinema. Director Dibakar Banerjee joined IBNLive readers for an interaction on his new movie 'Bombay Talkies'.

A. I'm always confident of my movies. We want to establish a direct contact with audience & its first of its kind.

A. Nothing...Shanghai has crossed collection of all my films...& gone to 10 festivals. I consider Shanghai my biggest success.

A. My films change but has something in common.
Q. When in your life you thought that the films are the thing you are born for and took it seriously..was this passion from childhood? Asked by: Dreak
A. Ya it was from childhood....I would say I was leading 360 degrees towards this profession, I was sure from class 10th.

A. I always write the script first & then think about casting. If something comes up i will be first one to sit outside his house.
Q. Karan and Zoya are the directors who make commercial movies..you and Anurag are off beat types..were there any clash of idea among you? Asked by: Janam
A. First of all Anurag made GoW, which was successful. I made movies keeping in mind the commercial success. If they were not commercially successful, I would have not been a director. All four of us Zoya, Karan, Anurag and me shared the same passion & tried to make as commercially successful movie as possible.

A. Many...Ray, Kubrick, Kurosawa...they have huge body of work...Matteo Garrone, Bong Joon-ho, director of 'Mother'.
