New Delhi: India wants resumption of the foreign secretary level talks with Pakistan and has sent a formal proposal to Islamabad.
Sources are told CNN-IBN that India will raise all relevant issues including counter terrorism.
Pakistan has welcomed the Indian offer and a response on probable dates is expected. However, Islamabad promptly set conditions for the talks.
Pakistani Foreign Minister speaking to CNN-IBN said, “There are now signals emanating from India that they are willing to talk bilaterally. We welcome this ... if it leads to resumption of all outstanding issues between India and Pakistan whether it’s water, Kashmir or terrorism - all other issues need to be discussed.
Meanwhile, a rally of the Jihadi elite in Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK), the first such rally in several years, was held on Thursday.
The rally was organised by the Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), the Lashkar-e-Toiba's charitable front, which presented the ISI's Jihadi favourites including Hamid Gul, ex ISI chief, Jamaat-e-Islami ideologues and Hizbul Mujahideen commander Syed Salahuddin of the United Jehad Council.
Salahuddin said, “Talks with India are meaningless.”
The rally moves on to Lahore on Friday where Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed is expected to address the faithful to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day, which left a question mark over Prime Minister Yousuf Gillani's promise on stopping terror directed against India.
In Delhi sources told CNN-IBN
- The Jamaat-ud-Dawa is not a charity organisation as Pakistan maintains.
- It shows that the territory in Pakistan is still being used for anti-India terror activities.
- India expects Pakistan to curb use of its soil for anti-India terror.
A road that India has gone down before with less than satisfactory results.
