Doha: The Indian flag was ceremonially hoisted at the Asian Games Athletes Village in Doha on Friday.

The flag went up in the presence of about 30 athletes and a few officials, including the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Suresh Kalmadi.

Tennis sensation Sania Mirza, Sikha Uberoi, Ankita Bhambri, football captain Bhaichung Bhutia were among the sportspersons who were present at the ceremony.

The IOA President is hopeful that India will put in a good performance at the games.

"We want to get as many medals as possible. But a lot of teams have been sent here so that they get a lot of international exposure so that we do well in Commonwealth Games 2010. There are a lot of games like rugby that are unfamiliar to India so we have sent the team so that they can get some practice," Kalmadi said.

The Games will be officially declared open after the opening ceremony on Friday night.
