Industry thumbs up to new power schedule

CHENNAI: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Saturday welcomed the restriction and control measures taken by the Tamil Nadu Government to improve the power situation in the State. The State government’s decision of 40 per cent power cut to all industrial and commercial consumers, two hour load shedding for Chennai City and suburbs, four hour load shedding for other rural and urban areas, evening peak hour restriction to commercial consumers and power holiday to all industries will avoid unscheduled power cuts and help industry plan in a better way, a CII release said. CII said that the decision will lead to fair and equitable distribution of power and result in alleviating the current pressure on industries and common citizen of Tamil Nadu while industries can continue their business though there will be power cut. CII also assured industry support to the government.
