MYSORE: The inflow in the brimming Kabini reservoir in H D Kote taluk has gone up substantially following heavy rains in its catchment areas, in Wayanad in Kerala and Kakanakote forest area in Karnataka. Due to this, around 10,000 cusecs of water was discharged on Tuesday from the reservoir and the dam, receiving 10,150 cusecs inflow from Kerala and Karnataka.The level stood at 2,281.50 feet as against a maximum of 2,284 feet.However, people residing in low-lying areas and villages located in the downstream of Kapila River passing through HD Kote, Nanjangud and Kollegal taluks have been given flood warnings.They have been asked to move to safer places, sources told Express.Sources also said that the inflow may go up due to possible heavy rainfall in Wayanad and Kakanakote.In the last five days an average rainfall of 20 to 25 mm has been recorded in the area, sources added.A reservoir across River Kabini near Beechanahalli in Heggada Devanakote Taluk, in Mysore district with canals on both the banks is feeding 1.10 lakh acres of agriculture land in Mysore and Chamarajanagar.
