A team led by Chandrakumar, Sub-Inspector of Police, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, defused the grenades and examined them.Each grenade weighed about one kilogram with circumference of 22 centimetres.The grenades, generally used by Army personnel, were powerful and could cause  great damage if they exploded, police said.The bombs and pistol were found rusted and could have been thrown into the tank long ago.
