BANGALORE: The state government on Friday launched Project Tender Sure, a public private partnership (PPP) initiative to improve the urban road network in Karnataka.The project is a brain child of Bangalore City Connect, an organisation floated by big-wigs of corporate world from Kiran Mazumdar Shaw of Biocon to Kris Gopalkrishnan of IT giant Infosys.The organisation in consultation with the different government agencies like BBMP, PWD and transport has come out with a plan of action to the improve the conditions of urban road.While the city connect would give its inputs on the road planning, designing, technical specification, execution methods and detailed procurement information, the state government would execute the work through BBMP and BDA and other corporations besides funding the project.The state government has taken up 25 Bangalore city roads for improvement besides taking 14 roads in other city corporations of the state and these roads will be called as Model Tender Sure roads.While Rs. 81 crore is being spent on Bangalore roads, Rs. 25 crore will be spent on roads in other corporation limits. Launching the project, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda appreciated the initiative and assured to extend full support.Kiran Mazumdar Shaw of Biocon, Kris Gopalakrishnan of Infosys, Swati Ramanathan of India Urban Space, M Lakshminarayan of CIIwere present on the occasion. They stressed on the need for development of city roads .ROADS TO BE TAKEN UNDER PTS BY THE BBMP ■ St Marks Road from Residency Road to Cubbon Road ■ Commissionerate Raod from Mayo Hall to D’souza circle ■ Cunningham Road from Queens Circle to Golf Club ■ Mcgrath Road from Brigade Road to Hosmat Junction ■ Victoria Road from D’souza Circle to Lower Agram Road ■ Museum Road from Vellar Junction to Siddlingaiah Road ■ Cubbon Road from Dickenson Road to St Marks Road ■ Brigade Road from Cubbon Road to Vellara Road BY BDA ■ Arkavathi Layout: Amruthalli Main Road to Jakkur via 7 and 8 Blocks ■ Asphalting of main roads, cross roads including improvements of drains and culverts in HBR 1st stage.
