London: Europe continues to battle the intense cold and heavy snowfall and the condition is likely to stay the same at least till the end of the week.

While Serbia has declared a state of emergency after the snow snapped access to tens of thousands of people, in Ukraine, 122 people have died so far with the temperatures hitting minus 30 degree celcius.

Meanwhile, Romania's Prime Minister Emil Boc resigned in the wake of 34 deaths.

The cold waves in Europe had earlier led to snowfall in Rome after almost 27 years. It had last witnessed a snowfall in 1985.
