IPL denies blames of dropping Jaipur to host games
Rajasthan Government smells the stink of a political conspiracy in the move.

Jaipur: Indian Premiere League (IPL) Commissioner and chairman Lalit Modi said he was a victim of politics when he lost the Rajasthan cricket elections earlier this month and now the state government that allegedly plotted his downfall is accusing Modi of doing the same, playing politics to deny Jaipur the chance to host IPL matches.

Rajasthan Home Minister, Shanti Dhariwal said, “The way they've pulled out the matches from Jaipur, it puts a question mark on their intention to hold them in Jaipur in the first place. It's an arbitrary decision for which people will not forgive Modi. The people of Rajasthan are feeling cheated. We had only asked for two dates out of six to be rescheduled. Rajasthan has been given biased treatment.”

For Modi, it’s a case of another battle front opening as he scrambles desperately to get green signal for the tournament to go ahead. On Wednesday, he had washed his hands of the decision to remove Jaipur from the schedule.

Clearly, while the Rajasthan Government smells the stink of a political conspiracy, Modi is on strong wicket on this one.

The IPL denied there was any sinister motivation behind denying Jaipur the chance to host games.

IPL Chief Executive Officer Sundar Raman Sundar Raman said, “ Local law enforcement authorities were supposed to give security without any riders. Paramilitary forces deployment was rejected.”
