A single judge at the Madurai Bench has issued directions to the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University (TNTEU) to issue fresh marks statements to a person, who had completed B.Ed from a private college in Pudukottai district.
The petitioner, M Syedu Musthapa, joined B.Ed court at Vestly College of Education at Aranthangi in Pudukottai district in the academic year 2009-2011. He had appeared for the final exams in May 2011, which included six theory papers apart from the practical papers. All the papers had internal assessment and external assessment scores.
While publishing the petitioner’s results on the internet, the TNTEU failed to list his internal assessment score.
In a letter addressed to the controller of examinations of the university, Musthapa pointed out that the University did not list his internal assessment marks on its website despite the fact that the college had already forwarded the marks to it.
The University, however, did not respond to the letter, prompting the petitioner to move the High Court.
When the case was heard by Justice Vinod K Sharma, the University did not file any counter affidavit inspite of the court’s notice.
“Inspite of the notice, no counter affidavit has been filed by the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University. The allegations made in the writ petition are accepted,” Justice Sharma said while allowing the petition.
Subsequently, the judge issued directions to the Controller of Examinations of the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University to issue a fresh marksheet to the petitioner after including his internal assessment score, within 15 days.
