BANGALORE: Software products worth `3.41 lakh crore worth have been exported from the state in the last five years , the Legislative Council was informed.In a written reply to Congress member R V Venkatesh, Minister for Higher Education and Information Technology Dr V S Acharya informed on Friday that as many as 484 IT companies were established in the state during the same period. Also, employment to 1.50 lakh persons were generated in the same period, the minister stated.The state government has taken several measures to attract IT investment in order to make the state the preferred destination for Information Technology. Therefore, several pro-IT policies have been adopted to retain as well as attract new IT companies, Acharya detailed in the Council.He continued: “The state government, which has planned to host another global investors meet in June next year, also plans to establish IT parks in tier-II cities of the state, including Hubli, Shimoga and Gulbarga, with necessary facilities.
