Advocating an increase in the strength of Jharkhand Assembly, Union Minister Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday said he would meet Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Thursday to request him on this matter.
"One of the main reasons for the political instability in Jharkhand during the last 13 years is the lesser number of seats. I will meet the Home Minister on Thursday to request to increase the House strength between 125 and 130 seats," Ramesh told reporters in Ranchi.
The Jharkhand assembly now has 81 seats and one more member who is nominated. Ramesh, who has been appointed as the Chairman of the ruling coalition's Coordination Committee, recently sent a letter to Shinde in this regard.
Later, the Union Rural Development Minister reviewed the progress of the department in the state.
