Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Thursday was elected as the General Secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) for the seventh time.
The AIADMK leaders have passed 14 resolutions including the selection of Jayalalithaa as General Secretary in the General Council meeting in Chennai.
Speaking at General Council meeting, she said, "Our government took all efforts to help the flood victims in Tamil Nadu."
"I would like to thank my party cadres, NGOs, individuals and government staff who worked round the clock during the floods," she added.
While taking a jibe at DMK Chief Karunanidhi, she urges him to seek pardon for all the misdeeds done to people of Tamil Nadu during his tenure.
Of 14 resolutions adopted by the party, she has been praised for speedy flood relief, good governance, empowering women and for fulfilling all the promises she made in 2011.
During the council meeting, the party leaders paid tribute to the 263 supporters who committed suicide during Jayalalithaa's conviction and incarceration.
The government has also demanded that the Centre should release more funds for flood relief and lift the ban on Jallikattu (bull taming) sport.
