Jammu: In order to address the need of drinking water of Jammu, the state government will tap water from Chenab river.
Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Taj Mohi-ud-Din said that to provide adequate drinking water to Jammu city, the government has envisaged a scheme for lifting of water from river Chenab.
He said once the project report would be completed same would be submitted to Asian Development Bank for funding. The minister was replying to a question by Chaman Lal Gupta in the House.
During the last two years, over Rs 1.31 crore have been spent to improve water supply facility in the area, he said. Replying to another question by Sajad Ahmed Kitchloo, the minister said that government has cleared a Rs 45.15 crore project for construction of Naigad Canal in Kishtwar.
He said the project would be submitted to the Centre for funding after the NOC is received from Forest Department.
