Srinagar: Pakistan violated ceasefire yet again by firing at Indian posts in Abdullian Sector in RS Puram along the international border on Monday night. The ceasefire violation took place ahead of Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday to review border security.
The BSF has asked its troops to retaliate strongly to Pakistani firing and not become easy targets.
Shinde will also meet Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who had on Monday called for a fitting response from India to the Pakistani firing. His outburst came after Pakistani continued firing on Sunday night in 20 areas across four sectors.
Omar Abdullah on Monday called for tough action as ceasefire violations by Pakistan continued. "Centre should explore other options if Pakistan continues to violate ceasefire along the LoC," Omar said. Calling the ceasefire violation a 'one-sided affair', Omar said, "It cannot be a one sided affair, we can't be at the receiving end without giving any response."
The government said there have been more than 200 incidents of ceasefire violations this year so far. Hundreds of people have fled their villages on the border following the firing.
Apart from meeting the Chief Minister, Shinde will also meet police officials, central paramilitary force representatives and army officials in Jammu today.
