BANGALORE: An overflowing manhole is plaguing the residents of Jogupalya for the last two weeks. The seweage water is flowing on the road opposite to Government Boys hostel. This is disrupting the traffic flow in the area. “We are unable to walk on this road as we have to wade through sewage water. If a motorist rides by, it is impossible not to get splashed in dirty water. If authorities can fix similar problems immediately in places like M G Road, why is it taking them so long to do something about this,” questions a resident on the condition of anonymity. People using this road have to also cover their nose to protect them from the foul odour. What irks the residents is that the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has diverted the overflowing sewage water to a nearby storm water drain. With blocks found in some drains, the stagnant seweage water is becoming a source of foul odour for those living farther from the overflowing drain. When contacted, the councillor M Gowtham Kumar told this reporter that he will look into the issue and do the needful.  However, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) authorities refsued to comment on the issue.
