THIRUVANATHAPURAM: The District Rural Police have arrested four persons in connection with the murder of a security personnel of a jewellery and the subsequent robbery of the shop at Kallara, near Kilimanoor. The accused were identified as Deepak Raj, 23, of Kilimanoor; Primith, 33, of Pathanamthitta; and Rajasekharan alias Raja, 25, and Palani, 30, both of them hailing from Kadaloor district in Tamil Nadu.  Even though the police could nab four persons, they have not yet been able to find out the roles played by the accused in the murder and robbery. Also, they are yet to nab the three main persons, Sasikumar, Dileesh Kumar and a Tamil Nadu native Kannan, who had plotted and executed the crime. The three of them had gone into hiding post the robbery that took place on May 6. Meanwhile, the police have learnt that Sasikumar was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Goa, which has deepened the mystery surrounding the case.  The accused had, in the wee hours of May 6, murdered Raveendran Nair of Venjarammoodu, who worked as a security personnel of the shop, Jaseena Jewellers, at Kallara. His body was recovered from an abandoned well on the premises of a government school nearby.  Addressing a news conference here on Wednesday, Rural SP P Prakash said that an intense search by special investigation teams led by top-notch officers of the department had helped to nail the accused within a short span of time. Even though the police have seized the car in which the accused travelled, they could not recover the loot of gold ornaments, worth over ` 2 lakh.  The police examined the previous records of similar crimes and identified as many as seven gangs who were still active in the southern parts of the state. Simultaneously, another investigation team sent to the neighbouring states found out that Sasikumar and Dileesh had developed an acquaintanceship with Kannan, who was notorious for executing similar robberies using gas cutters after murdering the security guards, while they were jailed together in Tamil Nadu.  Meanwhile, another probe conducted among the industrial gas supply centres in the region revealed that an industrial oxygen cylinder was stolen from an automobile workshop at Kilimanoor a few days before the jewellery robbery. This also helped the police to zero in on Dileesh and Sasikumar.  Following this, the investigation team focused on the movements of Dileesh’s relatives and found that the culprits had made preparations for  the robbery in the house of Dileesh’s sister Divya. The police also came to know that Dileesh, Sasikumar and Kannan had fled the state after the crime. The police took Divya into custody and her revelations led to the arrest of the other members of the gang. The entire operation was led by Attingal DySP K E Baiju.  Now, the State Police have sent a team to Goa to unravel the mystery behind the death of Sasikumar. Investigation teams are also being sent to Mumbai and Tamil Nadu to track down Dileesh and Kannan. During the investigation, the police also found out that Divya and her husband were using mobile SIM cards obtained by submitting forged documents, following which they were arrested, registering a separate case against them. Ranjith’s brother Mohan Das, who forged the documents, and Dileesh’s wife Divya, who tried to bail out them by producing forged documents again, were also arrested.  All the accused are presently under the custody of the Kilimanoor police.
