Reiterating that the current focus of the government is to promote sustainable and orderly industrialisation and urbanisation in the State, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar said that the airport in Gulbarga is likely be complete by this year end and the one in Shimoga by mid- 2013.
He also announced that starting from Karwar, ports along the coast would soon be expanded.
“These will be connecting points through which we can enhance the trade relations with investors from world over,” he said. At the India Manufacturing Show 2012, which was inaugurated at the Bangalore Industrial Exhibition Centre here on Thursday, Shettar said that by 2020, Karnataka will turn into an industrial hub.
During the same event the sixth annual EMMA (Electronics, Machinery, Molds and Auto Parts) Expo was inaugurated. The expo is an attempt by Taiwan to display their core competencies in the fields of electronics and technology.
Key Indian exhibitors at the IMS 2012 expo are Indian Space Research Organisation, Mahindra & Mahindra, Kalyani Group, TVS Motors and Kirloskar Toyota Textile Machinery. At the EMMA 2012 as many as 131 exhibitors including 18 publicly listed companies would participate.
The four-day expo is being organised by the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC), along with Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (TEEMA), Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI) and Taiwan Transportation Vehicle Manufacturers’ Association (TTVMA).
Electronic & ICT products, machinery, molds, auto-parts, food-processing and green technology from Taiwan will be on display at the expo.
Industrial Minister Murugesh Nirani, Wayne W Wu, deputy chairman of the Taipei World Trade Center, Anand Mahindra, chairman and managing director of Mahindra & Mahindra and Shih-Chao Cho, vice minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Government of Republic of China (Taiwan) were present at the function.
