KOTTAYAM: Finance Minister K M Mani has expressed his objection to the Central Government’s decision to allow the import of natural rubber at concessional rates.“Rubber should not be imported when there is enough stock with the Rubber Board, dealers and the farmers. It is not fare to depreciate the value of rubber artificially,” Mani said.He added that the Centre was forced to take this step bowing to the pressure from the tyre lobby.He was talking to newsmen in Kottayam on Friday. Regarding state lottery, he said the prize structure would be changed soon so that more people will get the benefit.Fresh from the leadership workshop organised by IIM, Kozhikode, Mani said that he felt much younger after the class. The minister said that the government is planning to bring in new laws.Right to Service Act to get better service from government offices, act which protects those who have deposited cash in private banks and those buying flats are in the offing, the minister said.The clearance for housing projects would be given only after making sure enough facilities are there.
