Kolkata: The Calcutta National Medical College on Thursday witnessed major ruckus over the death of a patient.
The patient, Alexander Singh, had died allegedly due to medical negligence on the part of the doctors and hospital.
The doctors were roughed up for the alleged negligence. Following the incident, the doctors suspended work and went on strike.
Alexander was admitted in the hospital at around 6.30 pm with severe respiratory distress.
While the patient was being transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), his oxygen mask was removed, which allegedly led to the death.
Police had to be called in to disperse the angry crowd. Health department officials were also rushed to the hospital.
