KSEB contract workers stage dharna

KOCHI: The KSEB Petty Contract and Contract Line Workers’ Union took out a protest march to the Electrical Circle Office here on Tuesday. The march and dharna were organised for raising several demands.The union demanded that the KSEB should not be made a company and that 25 per cent of vacancies in mazdoor-level recruitments should be given to contract labourers. KSEB, PCC Line Workers’ Union central committee member S Seethilal inaugurated the dharna. He opined that the decision to make KSEB a limited company will adversely affect consumers. “The union has decided to oppose the privatisation of KSEB,” he said.District president of the union P M Dinesan presided over the meeting in which K Vijayan, Antony Lenus and Krishnakumar spoke. The protest march was led by district leaders K T Abdul Khader, Surendra Panicker, Eldo Pothanikkad and A D Varghese.
