SHIMOGA: A labourer was seriously injured in a leopard attack at Katlekon Estate near Lakkavalli coming under Bhadravati Forest circle on Sunday morning.
The injured has been identified as Shivanaik and was undergoing treatment at District McGann Hospital. It may be recalled that a leopard attacked one Kuberanaik at the same estate a few days ago. He too underwent treatment at the same hospital.The leopard pounced on Shivanaik from a tree on Sunday morning. The labourers working at Katlekon estate who gathered at the hospital premises are now worried about their safety. The labourers working at the estate migrated from Shivapur tanda in Harapanahalli taluk of Davangere district. About 75 per cent people of this village had been working in various coffee estates of the region.

Working pattern

They would work in coffee estates for about nine months and they would return to their native places in the remaining three months.

"Wild animals had not entered the estate and attacked anybody. Wild animals caught a dog long ago and ate it. But, they had never attempted to attack humans till now," he stated.
