CHENNAI: The Citizen Consumer Club of DG Vaishnav College here received yet another laurel, when it was named the best club in its category in the State from the Tamil Nadu Government. The trophy, which comes with a cash award of `10,000 was presented to the Consumer Club at a function held in Coimbatore on April 5.The trophy was received by DG Vaishnav College Principal S Narasimhan, the club’s convener R Ganesan and coordinator P Rahul.The Consumer Club, that was started in the year 2008, has organised a number of activities like rural outreach camps, awareness rallies, periodical survey reports, orientation for the benefit of masses and symposia on consumer-related issues, among others. The club has also taken up a number of programmes aimed at sensitising the rural population not only on consumer issues but also teaching them about their rights.
