Lokesh not to contest poll

Taking toddling steps in politics, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh said Wednesday he has no plans to contest the 2014 elections but was fairly certain his party would emerge the winner and regain power in the state.

“We are taking up agitations on behalf of the people public on various issues. I am sure the people will give us their mandate,” he said during a visit to his native village Naravaripalle in Chittoor district.

He was there to attend a family function. Asked during an informal interaction about his entry into politics, Lokesh said, “I’m already in politics.

I filed my father’s nomination papers in the 2009 election and managed his campaign in Kuppam. ” Lokesh said the TDP has a strong base in all parts of the state and has been waging relentless campaigns on people’s problems.

Lokesh said his Dad is all geared up for his statewide padayatra that is scheduled to begin on Oct. 2, The walkathon would boost morale in the ranks as well also make his father more accessible to voters. Contrary to speculation that Naidu will hand over party responsibilities to his son during his 120-day padayatra, Lokesh clarified that he would work as an ordinary party worker.
