Man demands Rs 15 lakh to send wife's dead body back

New Delhi: The husband of a 33-year-old woman Preeti Raisinghani, who committed suicide in a West African country, is allegedly demanding Rs 15 lakh from her parents to send her body home to India.

Preeti allegedly committed suicide in Sierra Leone on May 27 and her body has since been preserved in a hospital morgue there.

Preeti, who belongs to Ahmedabad, had married Vikas Raisinghani in November last year.

Her father Tikamdas Mohinani alleges that Preeti's husband and in-laws used to torture her for dowry.

The Ahmedabad police have arrested Vikas's father and mother. The police have approached the Indian consulate at Sierra Leone to look into the case.
