CHENNAI: The Central Crime Branch of the suburban police commissionerate on Saturday filed a first information report (FIR) against a Union minister and his family members for allegedly cheating a resident of Anna Nagar to the tune of Rs 18.5 lakh after promising to secure a medical seat.Police sources said they had filed an first information report after Sivasankaran of Anna Nagar lodged a complaint with suburban police commissioner Karan Singha alleging that he had paid Rs18.5 lakh to secure a medical seat in a college reportedly run by union minister S Jagathrakshakan. But he neither got a seat for his son nor did he get his money back.Following the complaint, the Central Crime Branch filed an FIR against five of them, including the Union minister. “Since it’s a cognisable offence, we have registered the complaint. We will investigate further,” said the CoP.
