VELLORE: Some minor changes have been made to the traffic diversions that are in place in the Fort City since April 5, based on the request of the public here.A release from the Collector’s office stated that the traffic diversion was planned to address the increasing traffic problems here. Petitions were received from the public requesting for a change at some locations. However, the overall response from all sections was positive.A consultative meeting was held on April 19 at the Collectorate among the transport department officials. Petitions from various quarters were discussed and reasonable ones were accepted. With regard to the issue of the bus route number 1, raised by the passengers, who complained that the bus was plying on the same route as that of route number 2, and demanded that route number 1 be operated as usual, the district administration has given the nod for the same and promised that the usual bus routes would be on again after the completion of the underground drainage work at the Officers Line.Several changes have been ordered at the entrance of the CMC hospital. The change in routes at the Arcot Road would be decided in the next meeting. The release said there had been no accidents in the city after the new traffic diversions. It may be noted that the one-way between the Vellore Old Bus Stand and Arcot Road was made two-way after the meeting.
