Bengaluru: Incessant rains over the past 24 hours turned many parts of Bengaluru into mini water bodies on Friday causing a huge inconvenience to people in India's IT city.
Most of the main roads are waterlogged, bringing weekend traffic to a complete halt. Roads near Madiwala, Central Silk Board Junction, Adugodi, airport road and Whitefield looked more like water canals.
In many places, there were long queues of stranded vehicles.
BBMP officials said the non-stop rain was unexpected and that they are trying their best to clear overflowing drainage chennels.
The IT corridors in south and eastern parts of the city have been waterlogged causing huge inconvenience for thousands who work in software companies. The police, fire and BBMP teams have been put on the job.
Local residents complained that massive encroachment of public roads for unauthorized construction is the main reason for the current chaos.
