Mumbai: The main accused in the Mumbai Audi accident case, Janhavi Gadkar, has been granted bail. Gadkar, who is a lawyer by profession, had allegedly rammed her Audi car into an oncoming taxi while driving on the wrong side of the Eastern Freeway in an allegedly drunken state on June 10.
Two persons - Mohammed Abdul Sayyad (55) and Mohammed Salim Sabuwala (50) - lost their lives in the accident.
Gadkar was booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. She was denied bail twice earlier.
The police had said that Gadkar was also involved in accidents prior to the June 10 incident, and she was likely to repeat the offence, if released. Police had also said that an earlier accident allegedly committed by her prior to the June 10 incident was settled between the victim and Gadkar and hence, no case was filed against her.
