Mumbai: After Gujarat High Court rejected activist Teesta Setalvad's anticipatory bail application, the police reached her residence in Juhu to arrest her. However, the police could not arrest her as Teesta and her husband were not present at home.
The Gujarat High Court had on Thursday rejected the bail plea of her husband and three others involved in the alleged Gulbarg society embezzlement case.
Complainant Firoz Khan Pathan said, "I am happy that her bail has been rejected. The collected money for riot victims was used for personal reasons this argument has been accepted by court. If custodial interrogation takes place information about funds collected will emerge."
In 2014, an FIR was registered against Setalvad and others for allegedly usurping Rs 1.5 crores of donations. They had collected the money to convert the 2002 riot-hit Gulbarg Society into a riots museum.
