CHENNAI: Sri Parthsarathy Swami Sabha, the city’s oldest sabha, and South Asia’s first, according to its president, honoured senior Bharatanatyam danseuse, teacher and researcher Rajeshwari Sainath and several upcoming musicians on Wednesday, during the inauguration of its 112th dance festival.Rajeshwari Sainath, who runs the Sruthilaya Kendra Natrajalaya in Secunderabad, is an accomplished dancer, researcher and is renowned for her collaborative work bringing together math and dance through different projects. She has also successfully attempted fusion music with jazz influences in classical dance.She was presented the Natya Kalasarathy Award on Wednesday, an honour earlier bestowed upon dancers Padma Subrahmanyam and Adyar Lakshman. She was presented `1 lakh, along with a medal.
