The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will win 300 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said in Bathinda on Monday.
"The SAD-BJP combine will register victory with a record margin in all Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, and the NDA will touch the figure of 300 at national level," Badal said after holding "Sangat Darshan" for Gill Patti, Goniana Khurd, and Nahianwala villages in Bathinda.
He said the Congress would face crushing defeat in the general elections as it would earn the wrath of electorates for its "ill-deeds".
He said Punjab would witness the "highest scale of investment", and extreme level of development after the NDA comes to power at the Centre.
"There is only one solution to save the country from all menaces and diseases of scams, that is to wipe out Congress from the national political scene," he said.
Asked about selection of candidates for the LS polls, he said the SAD-BJP combine would take lead in fielding its nominees in the state immediately after the poll announcement.
Sukhbir also asked the Congress-led UPA government to link Minimum Support Price of wheat with the price index, claiming that rates of farm inputs have increased manifold making farming unprofitable.
On a query regarding rates of sand and gravel, Sukhbir said Punjab Government had decided to make these available at affordable rates from February 1. He said sand and gravel would be made available at Mandi Board at district level.
Holding the UPA government responsible for the prevailing drug menace in states, he said Punjab was the most suffered state due to absence of uniform policy at national level.
Announcing to develop a world-class entertainment park for children at Bathinda, Sukhbir said the process has been initiated. He said houseboats, waterfall and other facilities would be installed in the park.
On a query regarding the promise of the SAD-BJP alliance to provide laptops to higher secondary students, he said it would be fulfilled soon after the beginning of 4G connectivity in the state. He said within six to seven months, all villages in Punjab would be connected through 4G services.
