New Delhi: The CBI investigations into the sexual abuse and gruesome murders of children in Nithari village, Noida, have finally reached somewhere.
A few days after taking over the case from the Noida Police, the CBI has ruled out cannibalism, saying that none of the accused - Noida-based businessman Moninder Singh Pandher and his man servant Surendra Koli - used to eat the victims.
A Central panel, which had been constituted to look into the macabre serial killings had on Tuesday recommended that the investigation gambit be widened to include organ trade as well.
The Committee - chaired by Joint Secretary in the Women and Child Development Ministry Manjula Krishnan - has also said that the possibility of organ trade is not being ruled out just as yet.
The committee has said that there has been gross negligence and dereliction of duty on part of UP Police and that such periphery cases of missing children should be handed over to the CBI.
The Centre had earlier asked the committee to look into the efforts made by the local administration. The panel has also said that the laws regarding missing children seems to have failed in India and that these laws need to be revised and improved upon.
