Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday held talks with a team from Nepal led by former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal for better connectivity of Buddhists sites of the two countries.

During the meeting, it was emphasised that there should be better connectivity between famous Buddhist place of Lumbini in Nepal and important sites of Bodh Gaya, Rajgir and Vaishali in Bihar, an official release said here.

Bihar shares long international boundary with Nepal.

The meeting also stressed on strengthening Jaiprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna for smooth movement of tourists.

Madhav Kumar Nepal said a large number of people from his country were visiting important Buddhist places of Bodh Gaya, Rajgir and Vaishali in Bihar.

He emphasised on road connectivity between Bodh Gaya and Lumbini in the Himalayan country within the Buddhist circuit.

Former Planning Commission member and JD(U) MP N K Singh said the former Nepal PM praised Bihar government for constructing high quality roads in places related to Lord Buddha.

He also lauded the state government's initiative in the field of education, health and infrastructural areas, Singh said.

The other members of the delegation were former Deputy Prime Minister and General Secretary of CPN (ML) Ishwar Phokhral, member of CPN (ML) International Relations wing Rajan Bhattarai, Nepal's Ambassador in India Khaganath Adhikari, India's Ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad and Principal Secretary to Bihar CM Anjani Kumar Singh participated in the meeting.
