A grenade was also lobbed at the ANF personnel. Sources in the ANF said they had fired around 60 rounds of ammunition with sophisticated firearms like AK 47, SLR, INSAT among others.The entire ANF was divided into five teams with each team comprising of 15 members.Despite intensifying combing operations in the deep forest, the team were not able to trace the naxalites on Monday. However, over 160 ANF sleuths will continue to comb the forest in order to restrict naxal movement, he said.From Monday the combing operation has been intensified under the leadership of ANF SP Vasudeva Murthy, said ANF IGP Alok Kumar and promised full protection to the residents of the region.FUNDS FOR NAXAL-HIT AREAS RELEASEDMANGALORE: Deputy Commissioner N S Channappa Gowda on Monday released Rs 20.50 lakh, of the total Rs 41 lakh earmarked under the natural calamity fund to initiate works on improving roads and drainage in naxal-infected villages like Kuthlur, Naravi, Navoor and surrounding villages.The Deputy Commissioner also directed the tahsildar to implement works in consultation with the executive officer and engineer. Directions were also issued to Nirmiti Kendra and engineers in the ZP to start the construction. The DC, setting a deadline for many works, said work on the Rs 4.15 lakh anganwadi building at Nujjody, Naravi village, should begin from Thursday.Another anganwadi and a health centre should be set up at Maliged.
