BANGALORE: While the city felt that there was a delay in  the completion of the Reach 1, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Managing Director N Sivasailam opined otherwise. Claiming that Reach 1 was being opened only for revenue purpose, he said that  metros across the globe had a time duration of more than five years. “We are the only ones opening by phase commissioning,” he said. Stating that there would be six other routes, he said that they were planning a trunk line from IIM (B) to Nagavara. “There would also be a branch line from RV Road to Bommasandra Industrial Area through Silk Board and Electronic City,” he said and added that the six new lines which would measure 72.7 km has been drafted and would be sent within a month to the government for approval. The Reach 1 of the project cost Rs. 1,540 crore and the entire Phase I cost approximately Rs. 11,609 crore.
