No SC Stay on freebie distribution

NEW DELHI:  The Supreme Court on Friday declined to stay Tamil Nadu government’s move to start distribution of freebies from September 15 to mark the birth anniversary of C N Annadurai. Justices P Sathasivam and B S Chauhan were hearing a petition filed by advocate S Subramaniam Balaji seeking to transfer the petition filed by him in the Madras HC against supply of freebies. The court, however, issued notices to the CAG, the Central and State governments and the EC asking them to respond in two weeks.
