In a tragic incident, two women were killed after a speeding BMW car allegedly hit their two-wheeler in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, the police said on Sunday.
The accident, captured on surveillance camera, took place on Saturday at around 11:30 pm in the Khajrana area, when two women- Diksha Jadon (25) and Lakshmi Tomar (24)- were going back to their home after attending Khajrana Ganesh temple fair. The accused, who was allegedly driving the car recklessly and in the wrong direction, hit the two-wheeler.
As per the footage, the women’s scooter was rammed by a speeding BMW car from opposite direction, flinging them into the air. Both the women were rushed to the hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

However, the driver fled the spot after the collision.
Upon receiving information, the police personnel immediately took cognisance of the matter and initiated a man hunt for the accused. Acting promptly, the police arrested the BMW driver, Gajendra Pratap Singh (28), a native of Gwalior and registered a case under section 105 (culpable homicide) of the BNS against the accused.
“A BMW car coming from the wrong direction near Titan showroom in Khajrana police station area hit two women riding a scooter, who died during treatment. The police arrested the accused and registered a case of culpable homicide under BNS section 105 and sent him to jail, the police said.

According to the police, the accused revealed that he had recently purchased the car second-hand and works at Task US company. The police further said that the accused was hurrying to celebrate his friend’s birthday and was driving in the wrong direction as he was carrying the cake.
The victims were residents of the Tulsinagar area of Indore. One of the deceased, Tomar was the only earning member since her father died last year, her family members said. Originally from Shivpuri, she was supporting her family by working in Indore, they said.
Another deceased Jadon, originally from Gwalior, was working in an Indore-based public sector bank, the police said.
In another incident, a 17-year-old boy was killed and two others were injured after a speeding car allegedly hit their bike on the Western Express Highway in Mumbai’s Dahisar suburb on Friday.
Last week, a Ganesh mandal worker was killed and another was severely injured after a speeding BMW car allegedly hit them during Ganeshotsav preparations in Mumbai’s Mulund. Two workers– Pritam Thorat and Prasad Patil, of the Mulund Cha Raja Ganesh Mandal– were putting up banners near the Aakruti Tower in Gavanpada area when a speeding BMW hit and ran over them.
