KOCHI: One person died and three others, two of them family members of the dead, severely injured after the car in which they were travelling was hit by a police jeep at AC Road under Pulimkunnu police station in Alappuzha on Monday.The deceased has been identified as Sasidharan Unnithan, 65, of Karthika in Edappally. His wife Ambika, son Ajeesh Unnithan and driver Ajith suffered injuries and are admitted at Alappuzha Medical College. Ambika’s condition is said to be serious.According to police, the incident occurred at 4.15 pm. The police jeep from Nedumudi police station was carrying an accused to the Alappuzha sub jail after producing him before the Ramankari Court. The jeep developed a flat tyre and lost control, hitting the Wagon R coming from the opposite direction.The Pulimkunnu police said Sasidharan Unnithan died on the way to hospital.
