KOCHI: The district panchayat is all set to ensure the effective working of orphanages and charity homes. District panchayat president Eldose Kunnapally has said that all the orphanages and charity homes would be brought under close scrutiny to ensure efficient working on a war footing.He was speaking at a meeting convened to observe the working of orphanages and charity homes.“Strict measures will be taken against those institutions operating on illegal terms and stringent action will be taken against them,” he said. He said the district committee would pay a friendly visit from October 12 to October 14 to decide on the adoption of children. “In connection with it, a medical check-up will be conducted for the inmates. Grant to the tune of Rs 1.3 crore will be given to the recognised institutions,” he said.AM Kuriakose from district probation office, C M Rasheed of city probation office, M Sumayya, district malaria officer, were also present.
