THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: NSS former president P K Narayana Panicker was a visionary who guided the organisation on the right path, Kerala Gandhi Smarak Nidhi chairman P Gopinathan Nair said. Speaking at the commemoration meeting organised by the Sree Vigneswara NSS Karayogam, Vazhuthacaud here, he said that Panicker never tried to commercialise the various educational institutions within the NSS-fold. “NSS was not conceived as a caste organisation by its founder Mannathu Padmanabhan. The founder and the successive office-bearers had always stood for social reforms,” he said. Vyloppilli Samskrithi Bhavan member-secretary Vilakkudi Rajendran said that Panicker, through his equi-distance political perspective, had earned the respect of the public. Panicker, through his bold stand on various issues, upheld the prestige of the community, he observed. Karayogam president P K R Nair, vice-president K Balakrishna Pillai, secretary V Harikumar, Vanitha Samajam president K Radhadevi and Ward councillor K Sureshkumar spoke on the occasion.
