It is not the best of the seasons to be talking about pizzas, for, the faithful pizza lovers and cola-guzzlers are too busy with examinations, admissions to schools and colleges now, to indulge in their favourite gastronomic past-time. But it is not only the youngsters who are ardent pizza lovers, there are many from the older generation who relish it with equal zest.Creating new pizza recipes and bringing in variations to the traditional Italian recipes to suit the Indian palate (more inclined towards hot, spicy tastes), the local bake houses in Twin City would any day give the branded pizza outlets a run for money. The newly-opened The Pizza Station in Cuttack, where more than 15 variants of pizzas are on offer, is one such place to enjoy the delicacy.Two months back, it started out tentatively with the all-time favourite Indian Hot Chatpatti Punjabi, which has fiery-tasting paneer tikka, crushed red chilli pepper, garlic and onion chunks on top. This pizza really lives up to its name and leaves pizza eaters with burning taste buds.American Corn Garden with sweet baby corn, black Olives, Jalepeni is another one of the veggie favourites. Other delights on the menu are La Tomatina laced with large tomato slices and cheese, Mediterranean Feast, Thai Delight, Spicy Mexican and even the Chef’s Special which is a mix of baby corn, tomato, olives, mushroom, onion and capsicum is a good choice.The pizza joint’s speciality is V Lounge Special Chocolate pizza. “The idea was to make something different, hence, we stumbled upon the idea of a chocolate pizza. It is filled with dry chocolate, nuts, chocolate syrup and of course, cheese. Rich in taste, this sweet pizza has surpassed our expectations,” said Vicky, owner of The Pizza Station.This apart, one can have virtually any combination to top their pizza, like tomato, capsicum, pineapple.... all topped generously with the gooey, just melting Mozarella cheese. Customers can order their own variations, depending on their preferences. One can even opt for their preference regarding the pizza crust, thick and soft or thin and crispy. The pizzas in small, medium and large categories are priced between Rs 45 and Rs 200.There is a limited pasta section too in the eatery. Italian Pasta in Indian masala is flavourful - there are red onions, black olives and cheese. It’s deliciously creamy and the sauce does wonders to the taste.There’s a host of veg sandwiches and patties to choose from as well and don’t forget to ask for pizza sauce to dip into. The bean cheese grilled sandwich and Chef’s special maggi at Rs 40 each are worth tasting. This apart, there are pineapple, chocalali, black current and strawberry shooters to drink.The Pizza Station is located on the second floor in the Netaji Subash Chandra Arcade. They also accept orders for home deliveries.
