BANGALORE : The High Court on Tuesday ordered the Technical Vigilance Cell Committee (TVCC) , headed by the Chief Engineer, under the BBMP Commissioner, to investigate the development works carried out in all 29 engineering divisions across the city. The court’s move follows a set of PILs filed seeking a CBI probe into the alleged multicrore scam in three BBMP engineering divisions. Petitioners K Ramesh and others stated, “The team, headed by the Chief Engineer (Vigilance) has perused only 153 files, out of the 10,109 work files and found irregularities to the tune of `1,540 crore in three divisions - Malleswaram, Gandhinagar and Rajarajeshwarinagar - in three years. If the inquiry is extended to the remaining 26 BBMP engineering divisions, a lot more irregularities will come to light. However, the state government has ordered a CID investigation only in three divisions,” they alleged. The division bench, comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice B V Nagarathna, directed the TVCC to file report within two months.
