PU teachers should resume work

SHIMOGA: Chief Minister D V Sadanada Gowda requested the lecturers to resume their duties.Interacting with reporters here on Sunday, he expressed anguish over the lecturers boycotting evaluation work, terming it a form of blackmail.Gowda said the government had revised the pay recently and taken many decisions in favour of the lecturers, inspite of which they went on strike.He said that parents and students were growing apprehensive.He said there was not much difference in the salary offered to lecturers in Karnataka and neighbouring states.The discussion with the PU lecturers today aimed to resolve the issue, he added.Meanwhile, the Department of Pre-University Education in its final direction asked the PU lecturers to resume evaluation work from today, failing which the department would resort to disciplinary action.
