Parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, continued to experience rainfall accompanied by partially cloudy skies and a gentle breeze on Saturday. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), residents can expect cloudy weather with the likelihood of moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day.
The weather agency on Friday sounded a “yellow” alert for the city saying moderate to heavy rainfall was expected by today. Besides Mumbai, Raigad, Thane, Pune and some other districts of Maharashtra are also on alert due to the anticipation of heavy rainfall.

As per IMD, conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into the remaining parts of Maharashtra during the next three to four days. Officials said the southwest monsoon, which initially slowed down after reaching Mumbai, is now gaining momentum.
Further, the agency said scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada during the next five days.
“Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely over Konkan & Goa and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during June 22 to 26 and isolated heavy rainfall over Gujarat region and Marathwada on June 23,” the IMD said.
