New Delhi: International playboy, formula one giant, billionaire go-getter 59-year-old Flavio Briatore is now just a disgraced outcast.

The former Renault Team Boss is now barred from any FIA events for life - after being found guilty of race-fixing at last year's Singapore GP.

The penalty for Briatore is that he can no longer be associated with the team, he can no longer be associated with the series, he can no longer come to the paddock of any FIA championship event and he can no longer be managing drivers in Formula One.

What a fall from grace for a man who brought Michael Shumacher and Fernando Alonso to the limelight, won races with three separate teams and managed formula one stars Alonso, Piquet, Webber and Kovalainen.

Counting Naomi Campbell and Heidi Klum as former girlfriends, Briatore is also co-owner of London football club Queen's Park Rangers, but maybe banned from English football as well.

FIA president Max Mosley said,” Well it's sad. Because he's been in motorsports for 20 years. More actually at the top level and it's sad to see a career end like that but what could we do?”

Briatore’s sentence comes from Nelson Piquet Jr crashing his Renault at the Singapore night GP at the behest of Briatore to let team member Alonso win.

"In Piquet's case, we offered him immunity in return for his evidence. And that is what we have given him. In Alonso's case Alonso came, he spoke to the council and we asked him questions and everybody is completely satisfied that he knew nothing of the conspiracy," adds Mosley.

Team Renault got off lightly after proving that they had no knowledge of the incident but not Briatore whose sporting legacy will be scarred forever.
