Robin Haase beats defending champ Youzhny at Swiss Open
Robin Haase advanced to the semi-finals by beating defending champion Youzhny 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Gstaad: Robin Haase advanced to the semi-finals of the Swiss Open by beating defending champion Mikhail Youzhny 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 on Friday in a rematch of last year's final.

The top-seeded Russian saved six match points in the final game before finally losing.

Haase, a Dutchman seeded seventh, will play Juan Monaco in Saturday's semi-finals. Monaco beat two-time champion Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil 7-6 (1), 6-1.

In a match held over from Thursday, fourth-seeded Fernando Verdasco of Spain completed a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (3) win over Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany.

Verdasco was due back on court later Friday to face Viktor Troicki of Serbia in the last quarter-final match.
