Leandro Cufre was banned for four matches and fined 10,000 Swiss francs and Maxi Rodriguez was suspended for two matches and fined 5,000 Swiss francs .

Germany's Torsten Frings missed the World Cup semi-final loss to Italy because of a suspension stemming from the same incident.
